Adaptive Mesh Refinement

CONVERGE™ includes an Adaptive Mesh Refinement (AMR) option with the following features:

• AMR can be activated for velocity and scalar fields
• AMR can be activated for a single field or a variety of fields in the same simulation
• Each field can have its own specified maximum resolution
• A maximum number of cells can be specified to keep runtimes reasonable

The movie below (AVI format) illustrates the use of AMR for a simulation of flow through a stationary valve. In this case, AMR is activated for the velocity field.
