Table 8 lists some error codes that you may encounter when launching the client. Refer to the RLM license administration manual for further troubleshooting information.
Table 8: Common RLM error codes and solutions.
Error Code |
Meaning |
Solution |
-1 |
Environment not established. |
Set the RLM_LICENSE environment variable to <port>@<host> where <port> is 2765 by default and <host> is the hostname or IP address of your license server. |
-6 |
Requested version not supported. |
License file does not support the version of CONVERGE being run. If you are a perpetual license holder, then your license file might not allow you to run the latest version of CONVERGE. If you are a regular CONVERGE license holder, contact Convergent Science for an updated license file. |
-12 |
User/Host not on the include all list |
The RLM options files are blocking the user/host. We recommend that you contact your IT administrator and ensure that the RLM options file, rlm.opt, or the ISV specific file, csci.opt, is properly configured to include both the user and/or host. |
-17 |
Failure during connection with the license server.
Connection refused at server (-111) |
1. The client license environment is incorrect. Check the port and hostname values in the RLM_LICENSE environment variable. 2. The license server is down. Consult your local IT staff to verify the license server is active. 3. A firewall on the client machine, server machine, or somewhere in between blocked the connection. Consult your network administration staff. 4. Please open the TCP/UDP ports for both inbound and outbound rules on the client and server side for the respective port numbers. For example, if RLM_LICENSE points to 2765@server_hostname, the 2765 port should be open. If the ISV is pointing to the port 2766 (ISV csci PORT = 2766 in license file), then this port should also be open. 5. Telnet can help to check if the port is open on the license server with the command telnet IP port, where IP is the IP address of the license server and port is the RLM port (typically 2765 unless modified). |
-18 |
The license server is not hosting a license of the requested type. |
1. You have to supply the super keyword for superbase licenses. 2. Your license is expired. |
-22 |
Not enough licenses available to run. |
Free up some licenses or wait for jobs to complete. |
-43 |
Bad server hostname in license |
This error occurs when client is unable to communicate with the license server. This may happen when the hostname in the license file is not valid on the network. Try to set the IP address or the FQDN of the host. In case a new license was issued, make sure the license file is copied to the RLM installation directory on the license server and a reread/restart command has been supplied. Look at RLM log files to make sure the pool has been updated. |
If you see the following error when you launch a job on RLM
<date> <time> (rlm) Using TCP/IP port 27650
<date> <time> (rlm) Starting ISV server csci on port 36083
<date> <time> (rlm)
<date> <time> (rlm) **Cannot find the ISV server binary.**
<date> <time> (rlm)
you must verify that the csci.set file exists in the same directory as your license.lic file. You can download the csci.set file from the Convergent Science Hub (https://hub.convergecfd.com/downloads). Note that a login is required.
