As the global energy storage market experiences unprecedented growth, system safety has become a key prerequisite for technology adoption. Both fire and explosion risks in Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) are well-recognized and require application-specific mitigation solutions. Advanced simulation techniques emerge as a critical element of explosion protection engineering, overcoming limitations of prescriptive design methods. This webinar, presented jointly by REMBE and Convergent Science, introduces a performance-based design pathway using CONVERGE CFD software to simulate ventilation and deflagration scenarios for BESS, as a critical design step preceding validation by large-scale testing. Participants will explore computational modeling methodologies aligned with NFPA 855, 68, and 69 standards, focusing on critical safety considerations in explosion prevention and mitigation for BESS.
