This webinar will dive into the computational modeling of an industrial regenerative burner-furnace assembly, conducted by Argonne National Laboratory in collaboration with industry partners GTI Energy and Bloom Engineering. This effort integrates expertise in combustion system design, high-performance computing, and industrial furnace operation to address modeling needs for advanced thermal systems.

Guest speaker Chandrachur Bhattacharya will describe the modeling approaches, numerical methods, and best practices used to simulate coupled flow, combustion, heat transfer, and radiation in a full three-dimensional furnace environment. He’ll discuss the common challenges associated with industrial-scale simulations—such as thermal boundary condition treatment, NOx prediction, radiation modeling, and computational efficiency—along with lessons learned that are broadly applicable to burner-furnace modeling and design.
