To comply with increasingly stringent emissions regulations, engine aftertreatment systems must be improved regularly. Three-dimensional computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations have proven to be an effective method for cutting costs and shortening design timelines. CONVERGE CFD software allows users to conduct uniformity studies, model surface chemistry reactions in catalysts, and predict the pressure drop and filtration performance of diesel and gasoline particulate filters. Furthermore, CONVERGE offers innovative tools for modeling urea deposits in urea/SCR systems. The urea detailed decomposition model, along with the new deposit solidification model and morph feature, enable more accurate predictions of the pattern and amount of urea deposit buildup.
