Hydrogen has the potential to help address issues related to energy security while reducing carbon emissions and promoting sustainability across many industrial sectors. To ensure a reliable supply chain, solutions must be developed for secure storage and transport of hydrogen from production facilities to consumers. Computational fluid dynamics (CFD) plays a vital role in helping engineers rethink traditional storage infrastructure and safety measures. In this webinar, we’ll demonstrate how CONVERGE CFD software can simulate tank filling and defueling as well as complex piping systems with valves (with or without phase change), while taking into account the heat transfer in the solid components. Furthermore, we’ll discuss how to apply CONVERGE’s detailed chemistry solver and library of combustion models to various scenarios including hydrogen self-ignition at high pressures in tank/pipe rupture cases, the deflagration-to-detonation transition, and large-room detonation scenarios and ignition probability predictions.
