CONVERGE for Battery Systems
Convergent Science - Europe
Hauptstraße 10
This course offers a hands-on introduction to modeling the multi-physics problems of battery thermal runaway and
thermal runaway propagation. We will discuss how you can model these complex phenomena in 3D using predictive,
physics-based thermal runaway reaction mechanisms in CONVERGE. We will also discuss how such mechanisms can be
calibrated against or generated from experimental calorimetry data. Furthermore, we will explore:
- How vent gas generation is coupled with the calibrated thermal runaway mechanisms
- Modeling of battery vent gas ignition and combustion
- Inclusion of solid particle ejecta for hot-spot ignition
- Flammability assessment
- Battery pack swelling during thermal runaway using FEA coupling
*This session includes hands-on CONVERGE Studio practice.
