Madison, Wisconsin—Feb 11, 2022—Dr. Kelly Senecal, Co-Owner and Vice President of Convergent Science, has been named an ASME Fellow for his significant contributions and leadership to the international engineering community. ASME Fellow is the highest grade of membership of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers and recognizes long-term members for their outstanding engineering achievements.

Senecal is a co-founder and owner of Convergent Science and one of the original developers of the industry-leading CONVERGE CFD software. In addition, he is a visiting professor at the University of Oxford and the director and co-founder of the Computational Chemistry Consortium.
Senecal is internationally recognized as an expert on propulsion technology and an advocate for embracing a pragmatic approach to transportation decarbonization. He has given invited talks around the globe to educate students, engineers, and policymakers alike on how we can reach a sustainable transportation future. Recently, Senecal co-authored a book on the topic titled Racing Toward Zero: The Untold Story of Driving Green.
Senecal has received international recognition, including articles in The New York Times and England’s The Sunday Times, for his pioneering work on the use of CFD and genetic algorithms in the engine design process. Senecal is the author of the widely used Linearized Instability Sheet Atomization (LISA) spray breakup model, and he has authored more than 100 research papers, which have garnered nearly 5,000 citations.
